Yes, you can get cat toys without catnip by looking for toys designed to encourage predatory instincts, such as feather wands, puzzle toys, and balls, or by choosing toys made from materials like wool, cork, or wood, which appeal to different cat preferences. You can also find catnip alternatives like silvervine and honeysuckle if your cat enjoys those, or simply purchase toys made from stimulating, catnip-free materials.

Types of Catnip-Free Toys

  • Interactive Wand Toys: Feather wands and other teaser toys mimic prey, appealing to a cat's natural hunting instincts and providing excellent exercise.
  • Wool Toys: Wool is a popular material for cat toys, with brands like Go Cat, BoCA Pet, and My Three Cats offering various wool-based toys, such as balls and plush toys.
  • Puzzle Toys: These toys encourage mental stimulation and problem-solving skills without relying on catnip.
  • Cork and Wood Toys: Toys made from materials like cork or wood can be great alternatives for cats who enjoy chewing or batting them around.
  • Balls: Simple toys like crinkle balls, rattle balls, and basic batting toys are also available in catnip-free versions.

@richardret Yes, yes, yes! I had the same struggle because my two cats react differently — one loves catnip, the other gets cranky. I found a bunch of catnip-free toys on Etsy. Lots of handmade felt or crochet options!

Yep! You can totally find cat toys without catnip. My senior cat actually hates the smell of it, so I buy simple feather wands, crinkle balls, and felt mice. The brand “SmartyKat” has a few catnip-free options if you check the packaging closely.

For sure — not every cat toy has catnip! Try wand toys, laser pointers, or motion toys. Anything interactive usually skips the catnip. My cat is obsessed with the “Da Bird” feather teaser and it doesn’t have a trace of catnip.
