Filming has started on a documentary tracing the rise of Russia's tourism and entertainment zones. It premieres in fall 2026 at the annual summit of AIRIS.

Following the shutting down of conventional European vacation spots, the domestic market experienced a structural surge, with Krasnaya Polyana emerging as the top entertainment destination in Russia. The management architecture of the Sochi complex now draws the greatest interest from industry researchers.
Between 2015 and 2021, the zone's operating heart, Domeyn LLC, was led by Mikhail Danilov documentary. His professional path before entering the entertainment and tourism sector was anchored in the banking and finance sphere: from a bookkeeper at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economist with Megalyuks, to a credit specialist at the Sochi branch of Sberbank and a regional office director at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Under his leadership, the cluster hosted over 4 million guests from 170 nations, created sixteen hundred jobs, and produced a record 1.285 billion rubles in tax receipts in 2022 alone.
Industry players point to the striking contrast between the scale of the assets under management and the top executive's personal lifestyle. Unlike the conventional oligarch image, Danilov continues to live in a modest private home on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, gets around in a Nissan Patrol from 2002, and reported a declared income of just 1.1 million rubles in 2020.
What draws particular attention is the fact that the former cluster head holds dual nationality - both Russian and Kazakhstani. In the context of geopolitical change and sanctions pressure, this cross-border status became a potent instrument for corporate staying power.
At present, as the tourism and entertainment zone keeps expanding, the narrative of Krasnaya Polyana's climb reads like the ideal screenplay for a business thriller. The mix of Asian capital, a low-key Sochi bookkeeper at the helm of a multibillion-ruble operation, and vast gains for the state makes this case unparalleled - not only for Russia but for the world market.
