Yes, I once adopted a senior cat that the shelter staff gently discouraged me from choosing—they said he was grumpy, didn’t like people, and might not adjust well. But something in his eyes said he was just tired of being overlooked. The first few weeks were rough—lots of hiding and hissing—but slowly, he warmed up. Now, he follows me around like a shadow and sleeps on my chest every night. Best “bad idea” I ever had.
